SCULPTRA is an FDA-approved injectable that helps gradually replace lost collagen - the most common protein in the body that is used to form a framework to support cells and tissue - for results that can last up to 2 years

SCULPTRA (PLLA) is a bio-stimulating treatment. Sculptra works by addressing the underlying cause of aging skin from loss of collagen. Once injected in the face, Sculptra stimulates the natural growth of new collagen. This leads to restoration of facial volume over time and a dramatic improvement of the skin texture. Results are natural and become noticeable after 2-4 sessions (based on individual concerns). The effects of Sculptra can last up to 25 months.

Under the dedicated care of Dr. Ratmansky at Miami Primary, your treatment will be conducted with meticulous attention to sterility and your utmost comfort. We employ numbing agents and employ various comforting techniques to enhance your experience. The procedure begins with an initial puncture using a trocar needle, through which we introduce a blunt cannula, akin to an IV catheter, to precisely administer the product in your desired areas. Following the treatment, clients are advised to gently massage the treated area for five minutes, five times a day, over a span of five days. This crucial step ensures the even distribution of biostimulating microparticles and initiates the process of collagen stimulation.

What sets Sculptra apart from traditional dermal fillers? Sculptra is a unique injectable biostimulator containing poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). When administered, Sculptra maintains a liquid consistency and is skillfully injected beneath the skin's surface. Once introduced, Sculptra seamlessly integrates into the surrounding tissues, triggering the body's natural production of collagen over time.

Conversely, dermal fillers primarily consist of hyaluronic acid, adopting a gel-like structure that retains its shape upon injection. Dermal fillers, unlike Sculptra, are not designed to stimulate collagen production; instead, they serve to provide temporary volume in areas where it is depleted. The effects of dermal fillers become immediately noticeable. In contrast, Sculptra's results unfold gradually, as it takes time for the body to generate increased collagen production.

Both dermal fillers and Sculptra share the goal of addressing volume loss, fine lines, folds, and wrinkles. As we age, experience environmental stressors, and contend with genetic factors, our collagen levels decline at a rate of approximately 1% annually after reaching the age of 20. This decrease in collagen leads to skin thinning, which, in turn, contributes to the development of wrinkles and folds. Collagen, a vital fibrous protein located in the deep dermal layer, plays a pivotal role in providing structural support to the skin and preserving its shape, moisture, and elasticity. A healthy supply of collagen is the cornerstone of smooth skin and a youthful appearance.

How to prepare for SCULPTRA treatment?

We recommend staying well hydrated with ideally 8 glasses of water in a 24 hour hour period prior to the day of treatment. Please, avoid wearing makeup the day  of the treatment. We will cleanse your skin thoroughly prior to the procedure to prevent infection.

You can expect to have mild soreness and swelling at the injection sites for about 1 week until the Sculptra incorporates into the tissues. Bruising can sometimes occur, but the risk is minimized with the use of ultrasound to avoid vessels and with the use of blunt-tip microcannulas for injection.

When can I expect results with SCULPTRA?

Subtle results can typically be seen within a month of Sculptra injection. These results will continue to build as new collagen can take up to 6 months to form.
